Suzanne C. den Breems is a Principal and Practice Leader for VAT Compliance, Consulting, and Recovery at Ryan and is based in the Firm’s Amsterdam office. She leads Ryan’s VAT Consultancy and Recovery practice and plays a key role in advancing the Firm’s VAT capabilities across Europe. Suzanne advises clients on complex indirect tax matters, delivering practical, value-driven solutions that align technical rigor with operational execution.
With more than 25 years of experience in VAT consulting, litigation, recovery, and compliance, Suzanne is widely recognized as an authority in European VAT. Her work spans advisory, controversy, and process optimization, with a strong focus on automation and improving VAT performance within business systems. She is actively engaged in the profession as a board member of the Women’s Network of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors and as a guest lecturer in EU VAT at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Suzanne is also a frequent speaker and published author, having served as chief editor of the tax law journal Fiskaal and contributed extensively to leading international tax publications. Her approach emphasizes clarity, innovation, and consistent delivery of measurable outcomes for clients.
