Michael Allen serves as a Principal and Northeast Region Leader for Commercial Property Tax at Ryan, where he advises clients on the valuation and appeal of large, investment-grade, and going concern commercial real estate. He leads property tax strategy across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, helping owners and investors achieve defensible outcomes for some of the most challenging assets in the market despite a prevalent anti-taxpayer environment throughout most of the region.
With more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate valuation and assessment appeals across the United States, Canada, and Europe, Michael is widely recognized as a preeminent authority on the valuation and appeals of overassessed hospitality, data center, healthcare, office, retail, industrial, multifamily, and special-purpose properties. He also brings extensive expertise in possessory interest valuation and transaction-related tax mitigation and is a frequent speaker and published author on property tax, valuation, and assessment issues. Michael also contributes to public policy and industry advancement through legislative task force participation and ongoing service with tax and real estate organizations.
