Overview
Bill Jones is a seasoned legal and public policy leader with more than four decades of experience in state and federal law, litigation, and government relations. As a member of Ryan’s Board of Managers, he brings deep insight into regulatory environments, legislative processes, and public-sector decision-making that strengthens the Firm’s governance and external engagement capabilities.
Bill previously served as general counsel to the Governor of the State of Texas under Governor Rick Perry, advising on complex legal, regulatory, and legislative matters at the highest levels of state government. He is currently principal and owner of The Jones Firm, a public law and government relations firm based in Austin, Texas, and has held senior roles at leading national law firms representing clients before state agencies, the Attorney General’s office, and the Texas Legislature. He also serves as chairman emeritus of the Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System and is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Bill’s board contributions are characterized by sound judgment, policy expertise, and a strong commitment to governance, integrity, and long-term institutional stewardship.
