Only 15 of Alaska’s 19 incorporated boroughs levy a property tax; nine Alaska cities levy property taxes.In Alaska, property tax bills are generally issued between June and September and are payable in two installments. The first installment is typically due between summer and late fall, depending on the municipality.

Municipalities establish and enforce their own penalties for delinquent tax bills, which may vary by jurisdiction. Under state law, however, penalties may not exceed 20% of the tax due, and interest up to 15% per year may accrue on unpaid taxes (excluding penalties) from the due date until the balance is paid in full.

Local Millage Rates: Matanuska-Susitna Borough’s millage rate is valued at 8.485 mills.
